The major step up from Cadet. Larger teams take on specialised roles, cars get real design freedom, and the top teams from each state race to the Australian National Finals.
The Development class is the next major step up from Cadet and is where competition becomes far more advanced and competitive.
Teams can have more members than Cadet, allowing for specialised roles like Team Manager, Designer, Manufacturing Engineer, Graphics, and Marketing/Sponsorship Manager. Teams compete through state competitions, with the top teams qualifying for the Australian National Finals.
Cars have more design freedom than Cadet — not as heavily customised as Professional, but a real step up. Engineering standards climb accordingly: over 60 CFD iterations reduced drag while maintaining stability through optimised wing geometry, and precision manufacturing is expected. Portfolios, verbal presentations, pit displays and branding become much more professional and detailed.
Competition is much more intense, with teams often spending months refining tiny details to gain milliseconds on track.
